Following breakfast, you travel for about six to seven hours to Udzungwa Mountain National Park, one of East Africa's most fascinating bio-diversity and distinctive rainforest regions, where numerous incredibly rare plant and animal species have been identified (and are still being found). Two of the six species of primates—the Sanje Crested Mangabey and the Udzungwa Colobus Monkey—are endemic and found nowhere else in the world. For a day of hiking and bird watching in the pristine rain forest, you arrive at your camp late at night. You hike to the Sanje waterfalls for breathtaking views of the expansive Kilombero Valley. You can play and take a bath in the waterfalls' pools if you'd like.
Your guide will lead you to Njokamoni Waterfall today via the Hidden Waterfall Trail, which leads directly back into Hondo Hondo. You should leave early because the walk is lengthy, steep, and climbs to a height of over 1000m. Due to the presence of large mammals deep within the forest, a ranger is required for this hike. On this trail, you will undoubtedly see a lot of wildlife.
