Five Days Around the Tables
Four dining services across the full route — sunset, sunrise, lunch and one more, each confirmed with the drives.
The five-day route departs Arusha in the early morning, across the highlands and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area onto the central plains. The gate pause is brief; fly-in guests meet at Seronera airstrip, and the access option is confirmed at booking.
The first afternoon drive runs the Seronera riverine tracks in the mellow light, meeting the resident cast as the day winds down. The guide holds the line to what the ground shows, keeping the pace easy ahead of the evening table.
As the sun sets the vehicle turns towards the first approved bush-dining site under the acacias. The sunset bush dinner starts as the light fades, and after dinner a short drive brings the group to the overnight camp or lodge near the dining site.
The first evening's sunset bush dinner is served on linen beneath the acacia canopy: three courses from the field kitchen while the plains stretch out and the stars open overhead. The sounds shift from birdsong to night insects as the meal runs its course.
Every course arrives from the mobile field kitchen at the unfolded table, the menu and timing confirmed before the trip. After dinner the group moves a short way to the overnight camp or lodge near the dining site, confirmed at booking.
The night is quiet and restful, with an early wake planned for tomorrow's full-day dining route. The accommodation is confirmed at booking for your dates.
Dawn starts at the sunrise breakfast site in the pre-dawn dark: coffee, warm bread, tropical fruit and a cooked course set as the first light touches the horizon and the plains come alive.
After breakfast the morning drive works the open-plains edges and kopje access roads through the golden-hour window. The guide reads light and animal movement to keep the drive productive without rushing the day's schedule.
A long lunch table is set under a large acacia at the approved midday site — a relaxed multi-course meal in the shade. After lunch an afternoon drive returns to the game zones as the light drops again. Return to camp for overnight.
Day Four extends the route north to the Lobo and northern-plains zone — wide valleys, rock outcrops and open grassland offering a fresh dining setting and a different wildlife character. The drive takes the long access roads north under the zone's park rules.
The extended-zone table is set at an approved Lobo-area site — a different canopy, a different horizon, the same standard of service — opening as the afternoon light stretches across the valley floor.
After the meal, an evening drive works the Lobo tracks as the light fades. The overnight is at a comfortable camp or lodge in the northern zone, confirmed at booking.
Returning south from the Lobo zone, the morning drive uses the opening light along the access roads, the guide reading the route for wildlife and positioning the vehicle for the best frames.

An afternoon drive closes the day's game-viewing in the Seronera zone. Return to the overnight camp or lodge for a final night in the bush, with an early wake planned for the return drive.

Vehicle Bean Bags
Each vehicle has a window-mount bean bag for lens stabilization. This is more effective than a tripod and allows quick setup when the action is happening. We also carry a monopod in the vehicle.
Protect Your Gear
Dust is the #1 enemy of camera equipment. Bring a camera dust blower, lens cleaning cloths, and a rain cover (dust cover). Zip-lock bags for memory cards and batteries. Avoid changing lenses in open air when possible.

Visa Requirements
Most nationalities require a visa for Tanzania. E-visa available at visa.immigration.go.tz (apply 2+ weeks before travel). Visa on arrival also available at JRO/NBO airports "” $50 USD for US citizens, $50 for most others. Check your country's specific requirements.
Health & Vaccinations
Yellow Fever certificate required if travelling from an endemic country. Recommended: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Tetanus, and routine vaccinations. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended "” consult your doctor 4-6 weeks before travel.
Travel Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory. Must cover medical evacuation, trip cancellation, baggage loss, and emergency repatriation. We recommend World Nomads, SafetWing, or your local provider. We do not sell insurance but can advise on adequate coverage.
Money & Tipping
USD is widely accepted. Carry small bills ($1, $5, $10, $20) for tips and incidentals. ATMs available in Arusha but unreliable in safari areas. Recommended tipping: guide $20-30/day, cook $10-15/day. Credit cards accepted at lodges (3-5% surcharge).
SIM Cards & Internet
Buy a local SIM at JRO airport arrivals or in Arusha. Vodacom and Airtel have the best coverage in safari areas. 10GB data costs ~$10. Lodge WiFi is available but can be slow in remote areas. WhatsApp works well throughout most of the Serengeti.
Tipping Culture & Etiquette
Tanzania has a tipping culture. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated. Safari guides rely on tips as a significant part of their income. Tipping guideline: Safari guide $20-30 per person per day. Lodge staff $5-10 per day. Use the lodge tip box for general staff.
