Dawn — the Seronera river line: Out in the half-light for the central valley's year-round water. Leopards are checked in the fig trees, lions return from the night and hyena clans come home to their dens — the cool hour with the best predator odds and cleanest light.

Mid-morning — migration-line reading: Work wherever the ranger network places the herds — grazing columns, zebra files and the predators that shadow them. The guide explains the seasonal logic as it unfolds.

Lunch — shaded kopje picnic: A shaded picnic among the kopjes while herds rest through the heat — granite islands that lions use as lookouts and hyrax call home.

Afternoon — river circuit and woodlands: Work the river loops and acacia woodland edges where elephant and giraffe feed. Hippo pools grunt in the shallows; rollers and fish eagles mark the banks.

Dusk — golden-hour loop home: Close through golden hour as predators stir, then dinner and the briefing for tomorrow's second Serengeti day.

Route of the day: Second full Serengeti day — direction set by the migration line: Grumeti corridor country or the southern/eastern plains → back to the central lodge or camp.

Morning — read the migration, then move: Breakfast and a radio check with the guide network: where the herds sit decides the day. West toward the Grumeti corridor in the months the columns gather there, or out across the plains when the grazing sits that way. The route bends to the animals.

Late morning — the grazing columns: Reach the herds — wildebeest and zebra in their long files — and work the edges where predators wait: lion prides, cheetah on open ground, hyena clans trailing the columns. River crossings are seasonal events that cannot be staged or promised.

Lunch — picnic where the herds are: A picnic near the day's sector, with the vehicle positioned for shade and the guide watching the radio for movement worth following.

Route of the day: Final Serengeti drive → Naabi Hill Gate exit → Ngorongoro rim arrival → 600 m descent → full crater-floor drive → climb-out → Karatu lodge.

Early morning — last Serengeti loop and exit: A final early circuit near the lodge, then breakfast, luggage in and exit via Naabi Hill Gate with formalities on the way. The highlands close over the route as the plains fall behind.

Late morning — reach the crater rim: Drive through the Ngorongoro highlands and arrive at the conservation-area rim. The descent road drops 600 m into the caldera as the floor opens below — grass rings, swamp greens, the soda shimmer of Lake Magadi.

Lunch — picnic on the floor: Lunch at the designated crater-floor picnic site, with the route planned around the fixed climb-out window. Grazing herds and hippo pools usually sit close to the lunch stop.

Afternoon — the floor loops: Drive the floor circuits: lion prides on the open grass, huge buffalo herds, the Gorigor Swamp edges, flamingo shallows and the black rhino's best-documented Tanzanian ground. Rhino stay uncommon and are never promised — the guide works the known territories patiently.

Morning — breakfast and the road home: Breakfast at the Karatu lodge, luggage in, and the highland tar road back toward Arusha — roughly 170 km through the lake corridor with market and fuel stops where time allows.

Midday — the Arusha approach: Traffic thickens near town; the guide manages the drop-off order — lodges first, then airport connections — and confirms each stop as the road allows.

Lunch — en route: Picnic lunch per the plan, timed to the drive and the day's drop-off sequence.

Afternoon — drop-off: Transfer to your confirmed Arusha accommodation or departure airport, closing the loop. Onward arrangements are yours from the drop-off point.
