Midday — road to the border: From Kigali you drive north towards Uganda. The most commonly used crossings between Rwanda and Uganda on this route are Katuna and Chanika; both involve walking through emigration and immigration offices with your bags. The trek itself: Walking time varies enormously with the family's location: from a relatively easy one-hour scramble to a full-day hike through dense forest, steep slopes and occasional rain. Weapons for this trek are written into your permit and cannot be added on site; children under the trekking age limit and anyone unwell on the day may be refused at the briefing, which is at the park officers' discretion.

Flight Kigali – Nairobi: From Kigali airport you take a scheduled morning or midday flight to Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
