The central Serengeti — Seronera, the Moru Kopjes and the river confluences — anchors the next two game windows, and the evening drive introduces the area before a full-board night at a central lodge or camp.

Central Serengeti wildlife is resident rather than migrating, which is the point of this stage: the plains work in every season. The migration, if nearby, adds spectacle rather than necessity.

An early morning drive makes the most of the central plains — lion returning from night hunts, cheetah warming on mounds and the Seronera river's pods of hippo — before a brunch-and-pack transition into the Ngorongoro highlands.

The transfer climbs through the crater rim's forested country, a genuine landscape change, arriving at the crater gate for the descent in the early afternoon. The crater floor's open grasslands, soda lake and swamp edges make it among the most animal-dense stages in Tanzania.

An afternoon floor drive works the eastern and central areas where lion, spotted hyena, elephant, wildebeest, zebra and — with luck — the crater's black rhino show themselves against the caldera walls.

The evening climbs back to a crater-rim lodge for a full-board night with views over the 600-metre caldera. Descending and climbing the rim is tiring; a celebrated sunset from the lodge bar is the reward.

The final morning belongs to the crater or the road, decided at booking. A last early descent adds a crater floor drive before departure; alternatively the day begins with the drive toward your finish, a fair journey even by safari standards.

Finishing in Kenya, the transfer runs north through the border corridor country to Nairobi; finishing in Tanzania, it takes the shorter road to Arusha / Kilimanjaro Airport for flights home — whichever you confirmed. Both ways, breakfast legs and roadside breaks pace the road.
