It does: travellers who skim the east arrive at the beach still hungry, while those who fished every mound and herd arrive complete and ready to rest. Give the grass your full attention — dawn courses, midday kopjes, dusk lines — and the island will feel earned rather than attached. On the beach, do the opposite of the grass: no alarms, no targets, no checklist. The loop's two halves want opposite travellers; be both, in order.

Dust is the #1 enemy of camera equipment. Bring a camera dust blower, lens cleaning cloths, and a rain cover (dust cover). Zip-lock bags for memory cards and batteries. Avoid changing lenses in open air when possible.

Yellow Fever certificate required if travelling from an endemic country. Recommended: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Tetanus, and routine vaccinations. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended — consult your doctor 4-6 weeks before travel.
