An early-morning departure from Arusha heads west through the highlands towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, climbing past forested slopes and village farmland before descending onto the flat horizon of the central Serengeti. The day builds in with a gate-formalities pause, and fly-in guests meet the crew at Seronera instead — the access option is confirmed at booking.
With the itinerary open for the afternoon, the first session starts once the light drops low and long: the private vehicle works the riverine woodlands and open plains around the camp, where resident lion, leopard and cheetah live on a short-grass circuit. Sessions flex around the day's conditions, and no sighting is guaranteed — the guide reads ground truth and adjusts the line.
After sunset, return for dinner and a kit briefing — the memory-card workflow and the next pre-dawn start. The night is spent at a comfortable en-suite camp or lodge near the photo zones, so the first light of Day Two opens with a short, easy drive.
Day Two belongs entirely to the light. A pre-dawn start rolls onto the plains while they are still empty and cold, and the first golden hour is used on wide grassland frames — silhouettes, dust in low sun and herds still streaming across the horizon. The vehicle stays off the herd lines until the light suits your lens.
Between the morning burn-out and the evening's warm window, the plan holds a flexible middle of the day: a quiet return to camp for card handling, lunch and rest, with optional short rounds along shaded watercourses when shade and wildlife allow. Midday light is kept for backup work and planning rather than wasted on flat frames.
The final session of the day takes the riverine lines of Seronera at dusk, when predators step out to the water and the light turns honey-gold. Back to camp after dark for dinner, a review of the day's frames and the plan for the closing morning.

Vehicle Bean Bags
Each vehicle has a window-mount bean bag for lens stabilization. This is more effective than a tripod and allows quick setup when the action is happening. We also carry a monopod in the vehicle.

Dust is the #1 enemy of camera equipment. Bring a camera dust blower, lens cleaning cloths, and a rain cover (dust cover). Zip-lock bags for memory cards and batteries. Avoid changing lenses in open air when possible.

Yellow Fever certificate required if travelling from an endemic country. Recommended: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Tetanus, and routine vaccinations. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended "” consult your doctor 4-6 weeks before travel.
Travel Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory. Must cover medical evacuation, trip cancellation, baggage loss, and emergency repatriation. We recommend World Nomads, SafetWing, or your local provider. We do not sell insurance but can advise on adequate coverage.

Buy a local SIM at JRO airport arrivals or in Arusha. Vodacom and Airtel have the best coverage in safari areas. 10GB data costs ~$10. Lodge WiFi is available but can be slow in remote areas. WhatsApp works well throughout most of the Serengeti.
