Luxury 4-Day Serengeti Fly-In Safari - Serengeti & Ngorongoro
Fly directly into the Serengeti and begin your wildlife adventure within minutes of landing. Private Big Five game drives in the legendary Seronera Valley, a 5-star luxury lodge on the savannah, gourmet dining under the stars - all with VIP service and an expert safari guide dedicated entirely to you.
Two Ecosystems, One Unforgettable Safari
Picture this: instead of spending eight hours on dusty roads, you board a light aircraft in Arusha and within an hour you're touching down on a Serengeti airstrip. Lions, elephants, giraffes, and cheetahs may already be within sight before you've even reached your lodge. That's the power of a fly-in safari.
Our Luxury 4-Day Serengeti Fly-In Safari is the perfect mid-length escape, combining two of Tanzania's most iconic destinations: the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. Fly directly into the Serengeti for two full days of Big Five game drives in the Seronera Valley — Africa's highest predator density — then transfer to the Ngorongoro highlands and descend 600 metres into the crater floor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site teeming with wildlife including the endangered black rhino. This is the shortest itinerary that delivers both Serengeti and Crater without feeling rushed.
With the extra day compared to our 3-day option, you gain a full-day game drive in the Serengeti plus a morning en-route game drive as you transfer toward the Ngorongoro highlands. The highlight — descending onto the crater floor — is an experience that stays with you forever. Lions, hippos, flamingos, and the endangered black rhino await.
Every detail is taken care of: private guide, all meals, park fees, flights, and transfers. You simply show up and experience the Serengeti and Ngorongoro at their most magnificent.
As the Cessna Grand Caravan descends over the endless plains, herds of wildebeest and zebra scatter beneath you. Within minutes of landing, your first game drive begins - not tomorrow, not after lunch, but now. This is the fly-in difference.

Detailed Itinerary
Day-by-day breakdown of your 4-Day Serengeti Fly-In & Ngorongoro Crater Luxury Safari experience.
Morning: Your luxury safari begins with a 6:30 AM pickup from your Arusha hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport. After a brief orientation with your safari coordinator, you'll be transferred to Arusha Airport for your scheduled 1-hour light aircraft flight to the Serengeti. The Cessna Grand Caravan or similar high-wing aircraft provides panoramic windows for exceptional aerial photography of Mount Meru and the Great Rift Valley stretching below.
Midday: Upon landing at Seronera Airstrip - situated directly inside the Serengeti ecosystem - your private guide and customised Toyota Land Cruiser with pop-up roof will be waiting. Enjoy a welcome refreshment as your guide briefs you on the wildlife and terrain ahead. Your first game drive begins immediately en route to your lodge, introducing you to the Seronera Valley's legendary wildlife: lions lazing on granite kopjes, elephants browsing acacia woodlands, and giraffes moving gracefully across the plains.
Afternoon: Check into your luxury lodge, where you'll be greeted with a cool towel and welcome drink. After settling into your room, depart for your first scheduled afternoon game drive (approximately 3 hours, 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM). The golden hour light is perfect for photography, and this is prime time to spot predators beginning their evening hunt. The Seronera River confluence area is famous for its high predator density - you have an excellent chance of seeing lions, leopards, and cheetahs on your very first afternoon.
Evening: Return to the lodge as the sun sets over the savannah. Freshen up in your en-suite bathroom before gathering for a pre-dinner drink at the bar or lounge area. A gourmet multi-course dinner is served, featuring a blend of international cuisine and local Swahili flavours. Retire to your room or stargaze from your private veranda - the Serengeti's dark skies offer some of the best Milky Way views on Earth.
Photography Tip: Have your camera ready during the flight - the aerial views of the Great Rift Valley and the approach over the Serengeti plains are once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities. A polarising filter helps reduce window glare.
Accommodation: Serengeti Luxury Lodge or similar (en-suite bathroom, hot shower, mosquito nets, private veranda)
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Early Morning: Wake up at 5:45 AM for early morning tea or coffee delivered to your room. Depart at 6:15 AM for a full-day exploration of the Seronera Valley - the wildlife-rich heart of the Serengeti. Morning drives (6:15 AM to 10:30 AM) are ideal for predator sightings as lions, leopards, and hyenas are most active after a night of hunting. Your guide navigates the game track network, communicating with other guides via radio and reading animal behavior to anticipate movements.
Midday: Find a scenic spot under a shade acacia tree for a bush breakfast served by your guide - hot coffee, fresh fruit, pastries, and cooked options while surrounded by wildlife. Continue the drive through the Moru Kopjes region, a series of ancient granite rock formations that serve as lookout points for predators. Leopards are frequently spotted lounging on these kopjes, and the area is also known for cheetah sightings on the surrounding short-grass plains. Your guide carries binoculars and reference books for detailed wildlife identification.
Afternoon: Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch at a designated picnic site with panoramic views of the Serengeti plains (12:30 PM to 1:30 PM). The afternoon targets different habitats - hippo pools, acacia woodlands, and marshy areas where buffalo and elephants feed. The siesta hours (1:30 PM to 3:30 PM) are ideal for observing animals at waterholes as they come to drink. Your guide positions the vehicle at optimal angles for photography throughout the day.
Evening: Begin the return journey around 4:30 PM with a final game drive along a different route. The late afternoon light creates dramatic photography conditions with warm golden tones and long shadows. Arrive back at the lodge around 6:00 PM. Enjoy optional sundowner cocktails at a panoramic viewpoint before dinner - gin and tonic at sunset over the Serengeti is a bucket-list experience. A three-course dinner is followed by storytelling around the campfire or lounge area.
Wildlife Note: The central Serengeti boasts one of Africa's highest predator densities. On a full-day drive, you can realistically expect lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles, and multiple antelope species. Leopards are sighted on approximately 78% of our full-day drives, and cheetahs on 68%. The endangered black rhino is occasionally spotted in the Seronera area.
Packing Tip: Carry a light jacket or fleece - mornings in the Serengeti can be cool (15-18°C / 59-64 - F). A dust mask or bandana is useful for dusty roads during the dry season.
Accommodation: Serengeti Luxury Lodge or similar
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Early Morning: Rise at 5:45 AM for a sunrise game drive through the Central Serengeti's eastern corridor. Depart at 6:00 AM as the golden light illuminates the plains. Your guide navigates toward the Naabi Hill Gate area, the route that connects the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro highlands. This morning drive targets predators on the move after a night of hunting, and the early light creates spectacular photography conditions. The transition zone between the Serengeti plains and the crater highlands is excellent for seeing cheetahs, giraffes, and ostrich.
Midday: Return to the lodge for a full breakfast and check out (9:00 AM to 10:00 AM). Begin the scenic drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through the rolling hills and Maasai villages that mark the boundary between these two incredible ecosystems. The drive itself is a game drive, with frequent stops for wildlife sightings. You'll ascend from the Serengeti plains (approx 1,500m) toward the crater rim (2,286m), and the landscape transforms dramatically from open savannah to lush highland forest.
Afternoon: Arrive at the crater rim lodge by early afternoon. Check in and enjoy lunch with panoramic views across the Ngorongoro Crater floor 600 metres below - one of the most breathtaking views in Africa. After lunch, optional activities include a visit to a Maasai village for a cultural experience, or a nature walk along the crater rim with your guide. The cool highland air provides a refreshing contrast to the Serengeti heat.
Evening: Sundowner drinks at the lodge's observation deck as the sun sets over the crater rim. The fading light casts long shadows across the crater floor, and you can often hear the calls of hyenas and lions rising from below. A gourmet dinner at the crater rim lodge, followed by stargazing - the high altitude and remote location offer some of the clearest night skies in Tanzania.
Photography Tip: The crater rim viewpoint from your lodge terrace is one of Africa's great photo opportunities. Wide-angle shots at golden hour capture the vast scale of the crater. Bring a warm layer - the crater rim can be 10-15 degrees cooler than the Serengeti floor.
Accommodation: Ngorongoro Crater Rim Lodge or similar
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Early Morning: Depart at 6:00 AM for the descent into the Ngorongoro Crater - the world's largest intact volcanic caldera. The 600-metre descent winds through lush rainforest before opening onto the crater floor, a 260-square-kilometre natural amphitheatre teeming with wildlife. The early start ensures you're among the first vehicles on the floor, with the best chance of spotting the endangered black rhino before the heat of the day. Lions, spotted hyenas, and the rare serval cat are frequently sighted in the morning hours.
Midday: Full exploration of the crater floor, covering Lake Magadi (a soda lake where flamingos gather), the Gorigor Swamp (hippo pools and elephants), the Lerai Forest (buffalo and baboons), and the open grassland areas (zebra, wildebeest, and predators). A picnic lunch is served at the Hippo Pool picnic site - one of the most scenic lunch spots in Africa, with hippos grunting just metres away and lions sometimes visible on the surrounding slopes.
Afternoon: Continue the crater floor game drive until approximately 2:30 PM, then ascend the crater rim for the drive back to Arusha. The 3.5-hour scenic drive passes through the Great Rift Valley, with stops at viewpoints for photographs of the Rift Valley escarpment and Mount Meru. Arrive at Arusha by late afternoon, where your safari concludes. From here, you can connect to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure, extend with a Zanzibar beach holiday, or begin a Kilimanjaro adventure.
Wildlife Note: Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places in East Africa to see the black rhino (sighting rate 82%). The crater also hosts the densest lion population in Africa, large herds of zebra and wildebeest, and over 400 bird species including flamingos, ostriches, and crowned cranes.
Accommodation: Day 4 - Departure Day (no accommodation)
Meals: Breakfast & Lunch (Picnic)

Meet Your Expert Safari Guide
Your guide is the difference between a good safari and a life-changing one. Every Kizza Adventures guide is born-and-raised Tanzanian with years of professional experience.
Daniel Mrith - Kizza Adventures Safari Guide
"Jambo! I'm Daniel, born and raised at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in a small village called Moshi. I've been guiding safaris for over 12 years - I started as a driver-guide assistant, learning every river crossing, kopje, and lion pride territory by heart before I ever led my first solo trip. I still get excited every time I enter the Serengeti.
My most memorable sighting? Last July, we watched a cheetah mother teach her three cubs to hunt on the Serengeti plains - it took over two hours, and by the end there wasn't a dry eye in the vehicle. These are the moments a guide book can't prepare you for.
I know the Serengeti like my backyard - where the lions are resting at 10 AM, where the leopards hunt at dusk, and where the migration will be based on the last rains. Let me show you the Tanzania I grew up loving."

Your Flight to the Serengeti
Most safari companies don't explain the flight. We believe in full transparency. Here's exactly what to expect.
Aircraft Type
Cessna Grand Caravan or similar high-wing aircraft (12 - 14 passengers). High wings mean unobstructed views from every window. The aircraft is pressurized and air-conditioned.
Seating & Window Views
Every seat is a window seat. The flight takes you over Mount Meru, the Great Rift Valley, Lake Natron, and finally the vast Serengeti ecosystem. Landscape photos from the air are exceptional.
Baggage Allowance
15 kg (33 lbs) per person in soft-sided duffel bags. Hard suitcases cannot be accommodated on light aircraft. We provide complimentary safari duffel bags if needed. Additional luggage storage at our Arusha office.
Safety Standards
All aircraft are maintained to international standards. Pilots are certified with 1,000+ flying hours. Regular safety audits and strict weather minimums ensure your safety is never compromised.
Your Pilot & Crew
Professional pilots provide safety briefing and commentary during the flight. Upon landing, your private safari guide meets you on the airstrip with a chilled welcome drink and a 4x4 vehicle ready to go.
Airstrip & Landing Experience
You may land at Seronera (central), Kogatende (north), or Kusini (south) airstrip depending on the migration location. The landing itself is an experience - watching wildlife scatter as you touch down on a dirt strip in the middle of the savannah.
Private 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser
Your vehicle is more than transport - it's your mobile observation deck, dining room, and photography platform for 4 Days.
Toyota Land Cruiser (Pop-Up Roof)
Our fleet consists of customized Toyota Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs for 360-degree game viewing. Each seat is a window seat. The vehicle seats a maximum of 6 guests - we never overcrowd.

Complimentary WiFi is available in lodge areas and most park gates. Our vehicles carry portable hotspots where coverage is available, so you can share your safari moments live.
Complimentary Drinks & Snacks
Stay hydrated with bottled water, soft drinks, beer, and wine. Snacks include nuts, biscuits, fresh fruit, and local treats. Bush breakfasts and sundowners are part of the experience.
The Great Migration & Best Time to Visit
The Serengeti ecosystem changes dramatically throughout the year. Here's when to go and what to expect.
The Great Migration - Nature's Greatest Spectacle
The Great Migration involves over 1.5 million wildebeest, 400,000 zebras, and 200,000 gazelles moving in a continuous cycle across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. This 4-Day fly-in safari is designed to place you wherever the herds are, with flights to the appropriate airstrip.
December - March: Calving season in the southern Serengeti (Ndutu area). Thousands of calves born daily. Predator action at its peak.
April - May: Migration moves through central Serengeti. Long rains - fewer crowds, lush landscapes, lower rates.
June - October: Dry season. Migration herds concentrate in northern and western Serengeti. Your flight lands at the closest airstrip to the action.
November: Short rains. Migration moves south. Good wildlife viewing with fewer tourists.
We track the migration in real-time and adjust your airstrip and lodge to be where the animals are.
Month-by-Month Wildlife Calendar
Temperature range: 15-18°C (59-64 - F) early mornings to 26-28°C (79-82 - F) afternoons. Early morning game drives require a light jacket or fleece.
Great Migration Month-by-Month Tracker
Follow the herds across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. We fly you to the closest airstrip to the action.
We track the migration by satellite and guide reports. Your airstrip and lodge selection adapt to where the herds are.
Safari Photography Guide
Capture the Serengeti like a pro. Our guides are trained to help you get the shot.
Recommended Gear
DSLR or mirrorless with a telephoto zoom (200-400mm or 100-400mm ideal). A wide-angle (16-35mm) for landscapes and camp shots. Spare batteries and memory cards are essential - charging available at all lodges.
Golden Hour Magic
The best light is 6:00 - 8:30 AM and 4:30 - 6:30 PM. Our game drives are scheduled around these windows. The low angle creates warm tones, long shadows, and dramatic wildlife portraits.
Drone Regulations
Drones are strictly prohibited in Tanzanian national parks without special permits. Do not bring a drone - it will be confiscated at the airport. We offer professional aerial footage upon request (pre-arranged).
Guide Positioning
Our guides communicate with each other via radio to share sightings. They position the vehicle at the optimal angle for light, composition, and safety. Don't hesitate to ask your guide to move the vehicle for a better shot.
Vehicle Bean Bags
Each vehicle has a window-mount bean bag for lens stabilization. This is more effective than a tripod and allows quick setup when the action is happening. We also carry a monopod in the vehicle.
Protect Your Gear
Dust is the #1 enemy of camera equipment. Bring a camera dust blower, lens cleaning cloths, and a rain cover (dust cover). Zip-lock bags for memory cards and batteries. Avoid changing lenses in open air when possible.

Essential Travel Tips for Tanzania
Everything you need to know before you arrive - visa, vaccines, money, SIM cards, and more.
Visa Requirements
Most nationalities require a visa for Tanzania. E-visa available at visa.immigration.go.tz (apply 2+ weeks before travel). Visa on arrival also available at JRO/NBO airports - $50 USD for US citizens, $50 for most others. Check your country's specific requirements.
Health & Vaccinations
Yellow Fever certificate required if travelling from an endemic country. Recommended: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Tetanus, and routine vaccinations. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended - consult your doctor 4-6 weeks before travel.
Travel Insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory. Must cover medical evacuation, trip cancellation, baggage loss, and emergency repatriation. We recommend World Nomads, SafetWing, or your local provider. We do not sell insurance but can advise on adequate coverage.
Money & Tipping
USD is widely accepted. Carry small bills ($1, $5, $10, $20) for tips and incidentals. ATMs available in Arusha but unreliable in safari areas. Recommended tipping: guide $20-30/day, cook $10-15/day. Credit cards accepted at lodges (3-5% surcharge).
SIM Cards & Internet
Buy a local SIM at JRO airport arrivals or in Arusha. Vodacom and Airtel have the best coverage in safari areas. 10GB data costs ~$10. Lodge WiFi is available but can be slow in remote areas. WhatsApp works well throughout most of the Serengeti.
Tipping Culture & Etiquette
Tanzania has a tipping culture. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated. Safari guides rely on tips as a significant part of their income. Tipping guideline: Safari guide $20-30 per person per day. Lodge staff $5-10 per day. Use the lodge tip box for general staff.
