Group join climbs start at $1,400 per person for 5-day Marangu, Rongai or Umbwe departures and run to $2,900 for the 11-day Northern Circuit. The routes most climbers book — 6 to 7-day Machame, Marangu, Rongai and Umbwe — cost $1,550–$1,950.

Three things move the price: number of days on the mountain, route operating costs (huts versus full tented logistics), and season. Longer routes cost more because park fees accrue daily and crews work more days — not because of luxury markups.

Five to Eleven Days Across Six Routes

5 days — Marangu, Rongai, Umbwe: shortest and cheapest, for experienced trekkers only.

6–7 days — Machame, Marangu, Lemosho, Rongai, Umbwe: the classic group join range most climbers choose.

8–11 days — Lemosho and Northern Circuit: maximum acclimatization and the highest summit odds.

Climbing Seasons 2026–2028

January to March — warm, clear, quieter trails. June to October — peak dry season and best conditions; July–September books out fastest. December holidays — festive summits, high demand.

April–May and November bring rains; Rongai's dry northern slopes handle wet months best. Group departures run year-round.

Longer Routes Summit More Often

Summit success follows acclimatization, and acclimatization follows days: 5-day itineraries suit only experienced trekkers (~65–80%), 6–7 day routes serve fit beginners well (~80–88%), and 8–11 day Lemosho and Northern Circuit programs top the scale (~90%+).
